Posters are being put up by Transport for London (TfL) behind platform benches at a number of Elizabeth line stations after passengers left behind grease and dirt marks.

TfL said the posters, which feature silhouettes and moquette-inspired designs, external, would “better protect and visually improve the spaces behind seating areas”.

It is hoped they will also more clearly indicate priority seating.

They will be rolled out initially at Bond Street, Farringdon, Liverpool Street and Tottenham Court Road stations.

It comes after TfL looked at several ways to clean and protect the spaces behind seating areas on the Elizabeth line in 2024.

TfL concluded the current solution was the most effective and sustainable option to ensure the stations withstood daily wear and tear.

Howard Smith, director of the Elizabeth line, said: “The Elizabeth line has had a transformational effect since opening, providing new, accessible journey options for customers, including at new central London stations.

“These stylish new moquette-inspired designs will enhance the customer experience by protecting the areas behind the seats.”
